These are loose submission guidelines, at best.
IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT WE WANT, READ THROUGH THE STORIES ALREADY ON THE SITE ON THE GLOBAL CITIZENS PAGE.
Hiker Bible is interested in your story. We want submissions that are personal, interesting and come from you! We are willing and able to add links in your story that will engage the reader, but the main point should be sharing your experiences through words, images and videos.
There really are no set-in-stone rules except that we won’t publish racist, ________phobic, or otherwise nasty sentiments on our site. If you’re not sure about this part, just send us what you have and we’ll make the decision and let you know. We think that a good rule of thumb is: if you think it may be offensive, it probably is.
The length of submissions is not necessarily an issue, but know that our readers are looking to read about your experiences. We think it is better to elaborate on your experiences than just to briefly touch on what, where and when. Personality in storytelling is key: we’d like to hear your voice, not some canned review. We’ll leave the star ratings for other sites.
Be as specific as you can. Describe the places and your feelings in them. Name the hotels and attractions you went to/stayed at. The more information, the better. When you read about someone’s experience, isn’t it better when they’ve put a little meat on the bone?
When you submit a story, send us a picture you’d like to use as your bio image. If you don’t, we’ll pick one for you – We’ll be nice.
That’s pretty much it. If you have suggestions on what I should add to this page, send it to Hiker Bible and we’ll take a look at it.
